Sending

By observing the enemy team's Towers it is possible to pick a Wave to send that is extremely difficult for them and make it even more difficult, possibly fatal. Generally speaking this falls into one of the following categories.

Categories for Sending

Armor Weakness

Many bread-and-butter Towers are built nearly exclusively, allowing their armor type to be targeted and exploited. A prime example of this is to send on Wave 5 or Wave 8 against a team with Heavy armor.

Attack Weakness

If a team does not have a particular weakness to a Wave's attack type, another approach is to find a Wave that has an armor type that is not countered by the enemy team. A great example of this is sending on Wave 15 against a team with little or no magic damage Towers.

Boss Waves

Wave 10, 20 and 30 are particularly strong, being boss Waves, so if the enemy team does not have any or enough Towers that are good at one on one combat the boss wave can be a devastating send. Usually a large amount of small Mercenaries are sent on boss Waves to make up for the otherwise small unit count.

Strong Waves

Certain Waves are particularly strong regardless of the units on the enemy team. Often these Waves have a smaller amount that spawn as a result. Wave 7 and Wave 14 are good examples of this.

Mass Waves

Some Waves spawn extra units, usually with slightly weaker stats. These Waves can be utilized as meat shields for the strongest Mercenaries to help them get right to the King. A good example of this is Wave 12.

Reacting to Enemy Sends

Warriors on 1

It's good practice to always have at least once player build a unit or extra value to hold against warriors on 1. Some good examples are Lord of Death, Spawn of Dragon, 5 Aqua Spirits, 3 Dwarven Engineers, 2 Prisoners, 3 Blood Orc Warriors, Elite Archer + Tier 1 meat shield(s). If you receive a send on 1 it is good to keep calm about it. This means that they will not likely be able to send again on 2 or 3 which allows you to push extra Wisps, but don't do too many! Make sure you will be able to hold Wave 2 and use the rest to upgrade your Wisps. This will let you hit them back, hard, for Wave 3.

Furbolgs on 2

Certain Towers can be quite vulnerable to the send on Wave 2. This often results from a slow clear, because many Cross builds are weak to a send on 2. It's important if you realize your team is clearing slowly to prepare for a Furbolg on 2. Particularly, Blood Orc Warriors are going to leak on Wave 2 if you only have three of them, you will need a fourth or some other additional help. A Pyro will leak on 2 to a Furbolg so prepare to overbuild in this case also.

Blood Orcs on 3

Receiving a Blood Orc on 3 indicates the sender has a significant amount of Wisps. With 1/0 you will usually be able to send a Furbolg for 3 in time for income, with 2/0 you can get a Furbolg and a Bowman, with 3/0 you can get a Blood Orc. To have 3/0 early on Wave 2 indicates most likely a build such as Aqua Spirits, Dwarven Engineers, or a Cross build. Sometimes if the Waves are being cleared slowly enough people will wait to send a Blood Orc, and skip receiving income for it on Wave 2, which can allow sending Blood Orcs with other less income-oriented builds. If the enemy team is clearing early waves extremely fast and did not send on 1 or 2, it can be wise to save your Lumber and not send on 3, since you may need 3 points in Attack and some in Regeneration to avoid healing on Wave 3, and if you do wind up holding the Blood Orcs on 3, you can then send on 5 which is a weak wave for Dwarven Engineers and somewhat for Aqua Spirits.

Wave 5 send

When a team sends on Wave 5, it can indicate one of several things:

 * They saw someone's units, who is particularly weak on 5, such as Dwarven Engineers, Spawn of Dragon, Any heavy armor units.
 * They sent early, on Wave 1 or Wave 2, and want to catch up in their income.
 * They have a King ability other than King's Permanent Immolation, meaning they might need to upgrade their king for Wave 7 instead of sending then. Sending 5 can provide more time to gather Lumber if the enemy team leaks and can sometimes prevent a send on 7 if they leak enough that they need to upgrade the King for 5.

Wave 7 send

Wave 7 is the most common Wave to send and to build specifically to counter, as it is one of the strongest early Waves.
